Sabine Choucair

Clown-in-Chief, Artistic Director of The School

teacher of courses 1, 3, 6, and 7

Sabine Choucair is a Lebanese humanitarian clown, storyteller, and performer. With degrees in performing arts from London and social therapy from New York, she has been working with communities around the world for years, finding human stories and transposing them on stage or in film.

Sabine co-founded Clown Me In in Lebanon and Mexico, a group that uses the art of clowning to fight social injustice (and make people laugh). She is a member of Clowns Without Borders USA,which spreads joy and laughter among disadvantaged communities and in refugee camps. She is the artistic director of The Caravan, a street theatre project, currently in its 4th edition, which has taken life stories and put them on stage before more than 150 communities in Lebanon, Tunisia, and Sweden.

Sabine was among 40 cultural leaders chosen to share their work at the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2017. That was very, very serious.

Her theatre and therapy projects have taken her to many countries, including Lebanon, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, India, Canada, Cyprus, Tunisia, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Cameroon, Morocco, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.
