Julia Yevnine
Female Gepetto for Giant Puppets
Teacher of the puppets course
An actress, puppeteer, puppet maker, director, and facilitator, Julia Yevnine has worked around the world, collaborating with theater companies in Greece, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Switzerland, Rwanda, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, Chile, and Argentina.
After finishing her training in physical theatre at the Ecole Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris and at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA), she co-founded Theatre Témoin in the UK, and Compagnie Traversière in France, where she was an artistic director.
Julia discovered the art of puppetry in 2011, which blew her mind(!), and she has been gaining very, very serious experience in the field ever since, performing, crafting her own puppets, leading workshops. She has burnished her originally self-taught skills through workshops with masters such as Handspring Puppet Company (UK), Mandinga Arts (UK), Natacha Belova (Belgium), Tita Iacobelli (Chile), Nicole Mossoux (Belgique), and Sergio Mercurio (Argentina).
Her most recent production, “Magdalena – A One Puppet Show,” is currently touring in Latin America.
